Working In collaboration with architects, builders & designers, WLC is a premier resource for fine custom cabinetry and millwork in the Northeast. Our craftspeople are committed to delivering a beautiful, quality, and, distinctive final product.

Our History

WLC was founded by Walter Lane in 1983 with a simple mission. He wanted to craft fine cabinetry and millwork that would stand the test of time. Your home should reflect your personality and fit your lifestyle. Your cabinetry and millwork should reflect the unique character of your home, and by extension you.

He also believed that your home deserves to be both beautiful and functional. Your cabinetry should work for you. It should feel sturdy and offer smart solutions to organize your everyday life. A peaceful and organized home gives you the opportunity to focus on the things that are actually important in life. These principals have guided WLC over the years and helped the company continue to evolve.

In the early days, Walter practiced his craft by creating reproductions of popular furniture styles. He knew he had a knack for furniture building after building sets for plays in college. His first shop was based in the barn next to his home in Salisbury, MA. Overtime, he outgrew that space and moved to his current location in Ward Hill, MA.

Forty years later and Walter is still running WLC Cabinetmakers, Inc. While he is no longer crafting cabinets in the workshop, he manages all projects and his expertise is invaluable.

Our Process

We take pride in the process of crafting our product, ensuring precision and care goes into every piece created in our shop. When we start a project, we view it as becoming part of a team.

Shop Drawings

Crafting

Installation

We start each project with creating shop drawings. All shop drawings are created using on-site measurements taken by a WLC team member, typically the owner, Walter Lane. Our drawings are drafted and sent for approval. They are the first step in our collaborative process, ensuring that the finished product is what the client is looking for.

Once these are approved, we can begin crafting the components for the project.
Our craftspeople are held to a high standard and are expected to maintain a quality first mindset. This mindset helps us ensure that we employ true craftspeople and finish carpenters. We start production by inputting our shop drawings into our manufacturing software. This keeps us organized and on task. We delegate to our craftspeople and they start building the pieces.

Once they are completed, we move on to the installation phase of the project.
This part of the project is where all the hard prep work and precise crafting pays off. Our installers are seasoned and practiced individuals. We install our finished products into the homes of our clients with care and precision so that by the time we are done, it looks like it has been there forever.

We are dedicated to to delivering a final product that will stand the test of time and be admired for years to come.
